Shift At Midnight Shop and Items: Weapons, Traps, Prices
Updated 2026-09-03 · Steam Shift At Midnight
The Shift At Midnight shop sells 43 catalogued items across four categories: Weapons, Healing, Upgrades and Decorative, and anything you order arrives as a delivery at the Loading Bay rather than in your hands. The community wiki has the complete item list, but its Cost column is still filled with placeholder zeroes and every description reads TBD, so exact in-game prices are not confirmed yet. What is confirmed comes from the developer's own patch notes: a Chainsaw was added as a purchasable melee weapon on 1 September 2026, you can now buy three extra bear traps instead of two, and since 29 July 2026 a second gun can be bought for use during normal store hours.
This page lists every shop entry by category, separates the things you buy from the things you simply find lying around the Midnight Mart, and covers the token economy that runs alongside store money.
How buying works
According to the community wiki, ordering from the shop does not teleport goods into your inventory. A Delivery turns up afterwards, and it lands in the Loading Bay, whose gate has to be opened before you can collect anything. That delay is the whole reason shopping is a planning problem rather than a panic button.
The second constraint is timing. The community wiki's Demented page notes that purchasing is locked out entirely while the Entity is present, which is why players are advised to buy defensive gear before a shift ends rather than during the Hunt. The wiki's Hunt page describes the sequence as a power cut followed by a 60-second countdown that players use to lay traps and barricade doors, with the Entity arriving only once that timer runs out. Whether the store still takes orders during those 60 seconds is not confirmed yet, so treat the countdown as setup time, not shopping time.
Money comes from meeting the nightly quota, which the community wiki's shift table records as 30 dollars on the first night, climbing in five-dollar steps to 80 dollars by shifts 12 and 13. See shifts for the full quota ladder. Anything above quota is the budget you can spend on the shop.
Every shop item by category
The community wiki's Shop page groups purchases with coloured category tags. The tables below reproduce that grouping. Where the wiki says TBD, this page says so rather than guessing. One entry, the Chainsaw, is flagged separately because it does not appear on the wiki's Shop table at all and is known only from the developer's patch notes.
Weapons
| Item | Type | What is documented |
|---|---|---|
| Baseball Bat | Melee | Listed on the Weapons page as a melee option |
| Sledgehammer | Melee | Listed on the Weapons page as a melee option |
| Chainsaw | Melee | Patch notes only, not on the wiki's Shop table: added as a purchasable melee weapon on 1 September 2026 and now required for the Locked And Loaded achievement |
| Brick | Thrown | Effect not documented yet |
| Bear Trap | Trap | Instantly kills the Demented, per the community wiki |
| Landmine | Trap | Effect not documented yet |
| Stun Mine | Trap | Effect not documented yet |
| Explosive | Thrown or placed | Effect not documented yet |
| Impact Grenade | Thrown | Effect not documented yet |
| Molotov | Thrown | Effect not documented yet |
| Revolver | Firearm | Effect not documented yet |
| Shotgun | Firearm | Named on the Weapons page; stats not documented yet |
| SMG | Firearm | Effect not documented yet |
Two notes on the firearms. The community wiki's Weapons page is out of step with its own Shop page: the Weapons list names Gun, Shotgun and Flamethrower as the firearms plus Sledgehammer and Bat as melee, while the Shop page stocks a Revolver and an SMG on top of the Shotgun. Treat the Shop page as the more current of the two. The Flamethrower does not appear in the shop catalogue at all, and neither does the Chainsaw, which the wiki has simply not caught up on since the 1 September 2026 patch.
Second, the Blood Moon changes what your purchases are worth. The community wiki says the arsenal stays sealed during a Blood Moon Hunt until the Entity drops below half health, leaving you with only the standard gun and side gun until then. Bought firearms are useless for the opening half of that fight, which makes traps and boards the better Blood Moon investment.
Healing
| Item | What is documented |
|---|---|
| Medkit | Restores health; amount not documented yet |
| x2 Bandages | Sold as a pair; healing value not documented yet |
| Extra HP | Raises the player's health stat; amount not documented yet |
Health and stamina are both tracked as player statistics on the community wiki, but neither page lists numbers, so there is no confirmed figure for how much any healing item gives back.
Upgrades
| Item | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Mop | Cleaning tool for the store floor |
| Hose | Cleaning tool |
| Product Box | Used for restocking shelves |
| Security Scanners | Store fixture; exact function not documented yet |
Cleaning and restocking are core shift duties described on the Steam store page, so the Mop, Hose and Product Box are the upgrades that pay for themselves through tasks rather than through combat.
Decorative
Decorations have no confirmed gameplay effect. The community wiki's Store Decorations page describes them only as things you can use to decorate the store. The 21 distinct decorative entries are:
| Decoration | Decoration | Decoration |
|---|---|---|
| Aisle Signs | ATM | Banner |
| Basket Rack | Books | Boombox |
| Burger | Ceiling Fans | Clock |
| Deer Head Trophy | Fake Ivy | Figurine |
| Gumball Machine | Mailbox | Plant (four variants) |
| Robot | Rubber Duck | String Lights |
| Sunglasses Rack | Trash Can | Water Cooler |
The four Plant entries are separate shop rows with different models, which is why the raw catalogue counts 24 decorative lines rather than 21 names.
What about prices?
There is no verified price list yet. Every Cost cell on the community wiki's Shop table currently reads 0.00, which is a placeholder rather than a claim that items are free. Anyone quoting exact shop prices for Shift At Midnight today is working from their own playthrough, not from a documented source.
One price-adjacent change is confirmed by the developer. The 20 August 2026 patch equalised product prices so that reaching the true ending depends less on luck. That change concerns the products you sell to customers at the register, not the cost of shop purchases, and it matters mainly for the profit margin runs described on the endings page.
Items you find instead of buy
Not everything in your inventory comes from the catalogue. The community wiki documents several items that exist in the world.
| Item | Where it comes from | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Gun | The Gun Case; the player's main weapon | Holds 6 bullets; damage not documented yet |
| Second gun | Purchasable since 29 July 2026 | Usable during regular store hours, per the patch notes |
| Flashlight | Standard tool | Lights dark areas |
| Wooden Boards | Used to barricade doors | The Entity smashes through them but is slowed and takes minor damage |
| Rubber Duck | Found in various spots around the Midnight Mart | Occupies an inventory slot; throwing it makes it ricochet wildly and damage whatever it strikes |
| Tokens | Small gold coins scattered around the station | Secondary currency for hats and cola |
The Rubber Duck is also sold as a decoration, so it appears on both lists. The community wiki records that it entered the game after a fan posted duck pictures to the developer's community for 16 days running.
Tokens, the spin wheel and hats
Tokens are a separate currency from store revenue. The community wiki says they are found around the gas station and spend on two things: cola cans, which players use against enemies, and hats.
Hats come from the spinner in the Break Room. Per the community wiki:
- A spin costs 5 tokens.
- Hats you win are unlocked for everyone in the lobby, not just the spinner.
- Duplicates are not awarded; if every hat is already unlocked and the wheel lands on one, your 5 tokens are refunded.
- A locker sits to the left of the spinner where any player can try on and equip an unlocked hat at any time.
Hats are purely cosmetic and grant no stat benefit. The community wiki's asset gallery lists roughly 30 hat icons, including a Banana Peel, Gas Mask, Traffic Cone, Pig Head, Tengu Mask and a Duck On Head that nods back to the Rubber Duck. Full cosmetic coverage lives on pets and hats.
Pets and Endless Mode purchases
Your pet is not a shop item in Story Mode. The developer's July 2026 announcement explains that you pick one of four companions before your first shift, the pet falls ill, and its medicine must be paid for within your first three shifts. Keep your personal profit high enough and the pet joins you on shift, wandering the store and tidying up messes so you can focus on the register.
Endless Mode shops differently. The 1 September 2026 patch made three changes that the developer explicitly tied to that mode:
| Change | Effect |
|---|---|
| Pet purchase | You can buy your pet for the store in Endless Mode |
| Security Cameras | Viewable on the computer; used to watch the tree line |
| Starting supplies | Two bear traps and two planks now sit in the storage room on the first Endless shift |
The same patch also raised the bear trap cap, so three additional traps can be bought instead of two. That bullet is written without a mode label, unlike the three above it, so whether the higher cap applies to Story Mode as well as Endless Mode is not confirmed yet.
The cameras exist because of the Rakes, added on 29 July 2026. The community wiki describes them as Endless-only creatures that creep out of the forest nearest the street, glowing red as they come. Shoot one and it retreats, repositions and tries again; ignore it too long and it roars, drops onto all fours and kills every human in the area. More on them under monsters.
What to buy first
Nothing here is an official recommendation, but the documented mechanics point in a clear direction:
- Bear traps. They are the only confirmed hard counter to anything, killing the Demented outright, and the shop closes while the Entity is in the building.
- Boards for the doors. Confirmed to slow the Entity and chip its health on entry.
- Melee weapons, all of them. The Locked And Loaded achievement requires buying every melee weapon and completing the Weapons Arsenal, and the Chainsaw is now part of that set. See achievements.
- Mop, Hose and Product Box. Cleaning and restocking directly feed the quota that funds everything else.
- Decorations last. No documented benefit beyond appearance.
Firearms sit awkwardly in that order because of the Blood Moon arsenal lockout, so buy them for normal hunts rather than as insurance against the worst night. New players should start with the beginner guide before spending anything.
Sources and last check
Checked on 3 September 2026. The full 43-row item catalogue, the four category tags, the token and spinner rules, the Rubber Duck's behaviour and origin, the Rakes' behaviour, the bear trap counter to the Demented, the Gun's 6-bullet capacity, the Wooden Boards interaction and the Blood Moon arsenal lockout all come from the community-written Shift At Midnight Fandom wiki (the Shop, Hats, Tokens, Rubber Duck, Rakes, Gun, Weapons, Hunt, Demented, Delivery, Loading Bay and Store Decorations pages) and are community-reported rather than official. The Fandom Shop table's Cost column shows placeholder zeroes and TBD descriptions, which is why no prices appear on this page.
Official developer patch notes on Steam supply the Chainsaw addition, the Locked And Loaded requirement change, Security Cameras, the Endless Mode pet purchase, the starting bear traps and planks, the raised bear trap limit (announcement of 1 September 2026) and the purchasable second gun plus the Rakes' introduction (29 July 2026). The equalised product prices come from the 20 August 2026 patch notes, and the pet medicine deadline from the developer's 8 July 2026 pets announcement. The Steam store page supplies the stocking, cleaning and quota framing. Where the community wiki's Weapons page and Shop page disagree on which firearms exist, this page follows the Shop page and says so. The Chainsaw is a patch-note fact only: it appears nowhere in the community wiki's shop catalogue, and the raised bear trap limit is quoted here without a mode label because the patch note does not give it one.
