Shift At Midnight Achievements: All 10 & How to Unlock Them
Updated 2026-09-03 · Steam Shift At Midnight
Spoiler warning: the last three entries on this page describe how the story ends.
There are exactly 10 Shift At Midnight achievements on Steam, and 7 of them are visible on the store page while 3 are hidden. The visible seven are combat and progression trophies you will trip over during a normal Story Mode run. The three hidden ones are the ending achievements, and they are mutually exclusive per save: you either keep both your pet and Clyde Dawson alive, or you trade one for the other. The store lists the total as 10, which matches the community wiki's Achievements table one for one.
All 10 achievements at a glance
Names and in-game descriptions below come from the Steam achievement list cross-checked against the community wiki's Achievements page. The "Hidden" column is from Steam itself, which flags the three ending trophies as hidden so their descriptions do not spoil the finale.
| # | Achievement | What it asks for | Hidden on Steam |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | First Blood | Kill your first customer | No |
| 2 | Still Breathing | Survive your first Hunt | No |
| 3 | Silenced | Kill a Shrieking Doll | No |
| 4 | Freed | Kill a Demented | No |
| 5 | Last Performance | Kill a Marionette | No |
| 6 | Relentless | Finish a Hunt within 30 seconds | No |
| 7 | Locked And Loaded | Buy every melee weapon and fill the Weapons Arsenal | No |
| 8 | Grave Decision | Let Clyde die so your pet lives | Yes |
| 9 | Empty Home | Let your pet die so Clyde lives | Yes |
| 10 | True Ending | Keep both your pet and Clyde alive | Yes |
One small discrepancy: Steam lists Last Performance before Relentless, while the community wiki's table swaps the two. The names and descriptions match either way.
The combat achievements
Five of the ten are kills, and four of those five only become possible once the Entity starts showing up. A Hunt triggers at the end of a shift if at least one doppelganger got past you at checkout, and it triggers unconditionally during a Blood Moon night, according to the community wiki's Hunt page. Once triggered, the power cuts, the store floods with red light, and you get a 60-second window to lay traps, board doors and arm up before the Entity walks in.
First Blood is the one you can get on night one: kill any customer with a weapon. The community wiki notes it is unclear whether the game cares if the victim is a human or a doppelganger, so treat "any customer" as the safe reading and expect the shift to go badly afterwards.
Still Breathing wants you to survive a full Hunt. Surviving does not mean hiding until sunrise; per the community wiki you have to deal enough damage that the Entity gives up and leaves, using weapons or traps. The Entity is blind and hunts by sound, voice chat included, so a quiet lobby is a real mechanical advantage. Any extra creatures that spawned in have to die too before the Hunt counts as finished.
Silenced needs a Shrieking Doll kill. Dolls come in alongside the Entity on later shifts, have very little health, and the community wiki calls them especially weak to bludgeon-type hits, which makes a melee swing the cleanest way to bank this one.
Freed is the fiddly one. The Demented cannot be hurt by any weapon; it freezes while a player looks at it, moves fast the instant it loses line of sight, and only a bear trap kills it. The community wiki's recommended play: drop a trap in front of it while somebody holds it in view, then walk the opposite way and look away so it charges into the jaws. Two details make or break this. You cannot buy items while the Entity is on the floor, so bear traps must be bought before the shift ends, and in co-op one player should be the dedicated watcher. The developer's 1 September 2026 patch raised the cap to 3 additional bear traps instead of 2, giving you margin for a missed lure.
Last Performance asks for a Marionette kill. The Marionette is listed among the Hunt creatures as a major threat, but the community wiki's page on it is still essentially empty, so its exact spawn shift, health and weaknesses are not confirmed yet.
Relentless: the 30-second Hunt
Relentless is the only timed achievement: finish a Hunt inside 30 seconds. Because "finishing" means driving the Entity off and clearing any support creatures, this is a burst-damage problem, not a stealth one. Extra creatures effectively cost you the clock, since the Hunt is not over while they live, so you want the Entity alone. And on a Blood Moon night the armory stays locked until the Entity drops below half health, leaving you the pistol and the second store gun, per the community wiki. A normal Hunt on a shift before the extra monsters appear is the friendlier attempt.
Locked And Loaded: the Weapons Arsenal
This achievement wants every melee weapon purchased and the Weapons Arsenal filled out. The requirement changed on 1 September 2026: the developer's patch notes add a Chainsaw as a purchasable melee weapon and state plainly that it is now required for Locked And Loaded. If you completed this before that update, the achievement itself already unlocked, but a fresh save now has one more purchase to make.
The community wiki's Weapons page lists Sledgehammer and Bat under melee, while the Shop table carries a broader weapons category. Prices in that table are still placeholder values, so exact costs are not confirmed yet.
| Item | Type per the community wiki | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Chainsaw | Melee | Added 1 September 2026; required for Locked And Loaded |
| Sledgehammer | Melee | Listed on the Weapons page |
| Baseball Bat | Melee | Listed as "Bat" on the Weapons page |
| Brick | Weapons category in the Shop | Melee status not confirmed yet |
| Bear Trap | Weapons category in the Shop | The only way to kill a Demented |
| Revolver, Shotgun, SMG | Firearms | Not melee; Arsenal stock |
| Molotov, Explosive, Impact Grenade, Landmine, Stun Mine | Throwables and placeables | Not melee |
Full item costs and stock lists live on shop and items.
The three ending achievements
Story Mode runs 13 shifts. The community wiki records four endings but only three ending achievements, because one of the four is the failure state: if you cannot keep up with your pet's medication payments, the pet dies, and your progress resets. That reset ending has no trophy attached to it.
| Achievement | Ending outcome | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| True Ending | Pet and Clyde both live | Do not call Clyde after shift 12, gather $250 of shared revenue, pay for the surgery |
| Grave Decision | Clyde dies, pet lives | Trade Clyde's life for your pet's |
| Empty Home | Pet dies, Clyde lives | Trade your pet's life for Clyde's |
The True Ending requirements above are from the community wiki's True Ending page: skip the call to Clyde after the twelfth shift, bank $250 of shared revenue, and pay for your pet's surgery. Money is the real gate here, and the developer's 20 August 2026 patch equalized product prices specifically so that reaching the true ending depends less on luck. Clyde's own page marks his death on night 13 as determinant, which is the wiki's way of saying the branch is yours to pick.
The community wiki calls Empty Home the rarest achievement in the game and describes True Ending as one of the rarest, though neither claim comes with a Steam global percentage, so treat both as community impressions rather than measured numbers. Clearing Story Mode and unlocking True Ending is also what opens endless mode.
Suggested unlock order
- Let one doppelganger slip by on an early shift to force a Hunt: that hands you Still Breathing.
- Take First Blood on any shift you are willing to sacrifice.
- Stock bear traps every night from the shift the Demented is introduced by email, so Freed is ready whenever it spawns.
- Bank Silenced and Last Performance opportunistically during later Hunts.
- Buy the full melee set, Chainsaw included, for Locked And Loaded.
- Attempt Relentless on a clean non-Blood-Moon Hunt.
- Finish on the ending you want, then replay for the other two.
More detail on the branch itself is on endings, the creature roster is on monsters, the night-by-night quota list is on shifts, and the surgery money sink is covered on pets and hats.
Sources and last check
Checked 3 September 2026. The total of 10, the visible-versus-hidden split and the exact names come from the official Steam store page. The Chainsaw requirement, the raise to 3 purchasable bear traps and the price equalization that eases the True Ending money gate come from Bun Muen's official Steam patch notes of 1 September 2026 and 20 August 2026, which take priority wherever anything conflicts.
Everything else here is community-written and not official: the achievement descriptions, Hunt mechanics, the Demented trap strategy, the Shrieking Doll's weakness to bludgeon hits, the melee list, the $250 figure, the "do not call Clyde after shift 12" step, and the rarity claims all come from the Shift At Midnight Fandom wiki (Achievements, Freed, Silenced, Still Breathing, First Blood, Hunt, Demented, Shifts, Weapons, Shop and True Ending pages). The Marionette's spawn shift, exact shop prices, and whether First Blood distinguishes humans from doppelgangers are not documented yet.
