You meet the Calendar Killer through newspapers, a Midnight News warning notice and a Shift 7 alert, never as a face at your counter.

That is the entire confirmed body of lore. Everything else attached to the name, including the popular theory that the killer is the player character, is community speculation rather than anything the developer has stated.

Where the Calendar Killer appears in the game

The killer reaches you through the paperwork side of the job rather than the horror side. Three separate documented touchpoints exist, all community-recorded:

The Shift 7 placement is worth noticing. If the killer works on the 8th, a warning delivered on the night before Shift 8 lines up exactly with a "he is coming tomorrow" article. That reading is a natural inference from two community-wiki pages, not a stated fact.

Midnight News is a randomised system. The community wiki lists four articles that rotate and pair with a specific customer, plus three more that are still being fact-checked, so what you read at the start of a shift is not fixed run to run. The developer's 20 August 2026 patch notes back this up indirectly: that update fixed some start-of-shift notes that were not randomising correctly. The player-character theory

The most repeated fan theory on the community wiki is that the Calendar Killer is you. The argument runs like this:

Exactly 8 customers come through the store on Shift 8, matching the killer's 8 victims.
If you do not shoot those customers, the reporting says the Calendar Killer did not strike that month.
Nobody else in the story has a guaranteed opportunity to kill 8 people in one night.
The killer never turns up as a threat on that shift, which would be odd for an active serial killer.

It is a tidy theory and the wiki flags it as popular. It is also unverified: the Fandom page presents it as a fan theory, the developer has not commented on it in any patch note or store text, and the Timeline page on the community wiki is still empty, so there is no dated in-world chronology to test it against.

Two counterpoints are worth holding on to. First, customers can be human or doppelgangers, and shooting a verified doppelganger is the job rather than murder, which weakens the equivalence. Second, the December gap has no player-side explanation under this theory unless the shop is closed that month, and nothing documented says it is.

The Dentist is the closest comparison, since both are killers the town talks about rather than customers you serve. The difference is that the Dentist has a documented in-game presence through the N.E.T. warning broadcast and a doppelganger, while the Calendar Killer, as of the 1 September 2026 content update, has nothing of the kind on record.

Open questions

Community documentation on this character is thin, and honest gaps are better than guesses:

The killer's identity, name, appearance and motive: not confirmed anywhere.
Whether the December gap is scripted lore or a hook for a later update: not confirmed.
